Being born and growing up in South Texas, nature was always around me. We never gave it a second thought. It was always there. On becoming an adult and having to make a living, I was forced to move to where there were jobs.

I eventually wound up in Austin, Texas, where I started a career in Aerial Photography and Computer Mapping with the Texas Department of Transportation. It was during those 35 years that I really became interested in photography. As part of my job, I got to travel to almost all the states in our country and I was never without a camera. After retirement, photography, especially nature and wildlife, became a full time hobby and part time business.

My wife Elizabeth and I have traveled extensively through the western part of the USA and Canada. These trips were always photo inspired. I have quite an extensive portfolio as a result of these trips. As you can tell by my site that it is very much oriented to nature and wildlife. Over the years I have also tailored my equipment in that direction. As with a lot of photographers, I started with film. I went through hundreds of rolls of film. The photographs were great, but all of them are now buried somewhere in dozens of boxes. I considered at one time to eventually scan some of the better stuff, but you know how that goes. They will probably stay in those boxes forever. Being in the Aerial Photography business and having to attend dozens of trade shows, I kept up fairly close to the improvements being made in the photography world. When the first digital SLR came out, I just had to have one. It was a Canon 30D with a 3-megapixel sensor. WOW, have we come a long way since then. I am now totally digital and don’t see how I took pictures before then. Some of the earlier dated photography on my site may not have the high resolution of today’s modern cameras, but I still consider them great.

Please take the time to browse through my different galleries and enjoy the outdoors as I did when I was actually taking the photographs. As you browse through my photos and galleries, please feel free to comment on the photo. If you feel that a photo deserves it, go to SmugMug’s photo rank. It is the thumbs up or down prompt on the upper right side of the photo on your page. Click on this to grade the photo. This will eventually help me perfect my photography.

NOTE!!! All the photos featured on this site are of wild animals taken in their natural environments. No photos were ever taken of captured or caged animals. When I say I take photos of wildlife, it means just that, in the wild. This is the way it should be.
