Family Vacation YNP June 2013
Our annual spring YNP photo trip was delayed about three weeks this year. We were able to take the whole family with us this time, so we waited until school was out. We arrived in the Park on Friday, June 7th. Family included my wife Elizabeth, daughters Glenda and Lynette, son-in-law Dirk, and the grandsons Dirk (14), Dawson (12) and Luke (7). The boys had been asking us for the past 2 years about when they would be able to go to YNP after hearing our stories and seeing our photographs. Well, this year we treated the whole family to 8 days in the park. They kind of knew what they might see, but I don't think either of the family expected to see what we did see and do. To being overwhelmed was not a good description. In the 8 days in the park, we fished, went white water rafting (18 miles), went zip lining, saw all the normal sights (waterfalls, geysers, boiling mud, paint pots etc) and we still managed to take about 2000 exposures. I was able to photograph wildlife I would not see during the month of May (twin baby antelopes, an otter, 2 bald eagles and a snow shoe rabbit.) We had weather from sunshine and 80 degrees to wet snow and sleet at 37 degrees. All in all, it turned out to be a fantastic trip, as every trip to YNP is.
